Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has tested positive for Covid-19, the club has confirmed.

The 62-year-old had been overseeing training at Real's Valdebebas training base during the international break in preparation for a return to La Liga action on Saturday.

Los Blancos face Celta Vigo away from home at 5.30pm before travelling to London for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea on Wednesday night.

However, their preparations have now been scuppered with the news that head coach Ancelotti has tested positive for coronavirus.

"Real Madrid CF announces that our coach Carlo Ancelotti has tested positive for COVID-19," a brief statement read.

It is not clear whether the Italian has any symptoms or is feeling unwell at this stage.

Interestingly, Spain has just lifted its test and isolation laws for people experiencing symptoms, with the recommendation now to reduce social interaction, avoid contact with vulnerable people and wear a mask at all times outside their home.

In terms of travel to London for the Champions League clash with his former club, there are currently no travel requirements for entering the UK from Spain.

Real Madrid's last match was the humbling 4-0 home defeat in the Clasico against Barcelona.
