Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti insisted he was satisfied with the point his team got from a 1-1 draw with Real Betis in La Liga on Saturday.

Jude Bellingham opened the scoring early in the second half, with Aitor Ruibal finding the equaliser for Betis not long after. Madrid had more possession but fewer shots and shots on target.

Top by a point, the result leaves Madrid vulnerable to being leapfrogged by Girona if they can keep their remarkable run of form going with victory over regional neighbours Barcelona on Sunday night.

"The bad thing that happened is that Ruibal scored a fantastic goal and they tied the game. I am satisfied, you cannot always do everything well," Ancelotti told reporters afterwards.

"I leave here satisfied, it is a good point for the table. Do you want me to say that I am sad or angry? It is not like this. I am happy," he added when pressed.

"It was a good game played well by both sides, the result is correct. We conceded the goal after a loss when we were at our best, but Betis did not deserve to lose, they played well, like us."

Madrid only have three more game before pausing for this season's winter break and will be keen to sign off for 2023 in a positive manner. Next up is a Champions League dead rubber against Union Berlin, with Ancelotti’s presiding over a 100% record so far. There will be further La Liga games against Villarreal and Alaves on 17 and 21 December respectively.
