Bruno Guimaraes speaks out on Barcelona, Real Madrid & Liverpool links

Bruno Guimaraes has quashed rumours linking him with a move away from Newcastle United, insisting that he intends to be at the club "for a long time".

The Brazilian was one of the flagship signings following the Saudi Public Investment Fund takeover, signing from Lyon for a reported £40m fee despite interest from a number of top European clubs.

Since joining the club in 2022, Guimaraes has made an instant impact at St James' Park, guiding the club to a top four finish last season and qualification for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in two decades.

Guimaraes' performances have reportedly garnered interest from the likes of Barcelona and Liverpool, while 90min understands that Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea have all previously enquired about the midfielder's availability.

Despite the Brazil international putting pen to paper on a new five-year deal at St James' Park back in October, rumours have persisted over Guimaraes' long-term future after it emerged that Newcastle may be forced to sell players to avoid breaching financial rules.

Seeking to end the uncertainty, Guimaraes told Sky Sports: "Sometimes people speak a lot about me. I just speak a lot about football. I’m very happy here and I like how the fans think of me here.

"Let the people speak. We have to get Europe [football] again, try for Champions League. I know it’s difficult but definitely [we are aiming] for Europa League.

"I enjoy my time here. The fans have been unbelievable for me and my family. I hope this can keep going for a long time."

Guimaraes and Newcastle will continue their quest to book their place in Europe when they face off against Bournemouth on Saturday.
