The Continental Cup quarter-finals kick off on Wednesday evening at Ashton Gate as reigning champions Man City travel to the only Championship side still standing, Bristol City.

Man City surged to a 3-1 comeback victory over Chelsea at Plough Lane last March to secure their second piece of silverware of Gareth Taylor's tenure, and are on the hunt for a record-equaling fifth Continental Cup title this term.

They face a Bristol side flying high in the Championship after a strong first half of the season, losing just twice in 14 matches in all competitions thus far, and who were beaten Continental Cup finalists in 2021.

Bristol City team news

Bristol City will be without Manchester United loanie Grace Clinton after the midfielder was sent off in the latter stages of the Vixens' victory over Lewes in their final Continental Cup group stage fixture.

Man City team news

Esme Morgan is a doubt for Man City after being withdrawn at half time against Aston Villa on Sunday with an injury. Demi Stokes missed out against Villa, and Gareth Taylor admitted Wednesday could be 'too soon' for the left back to make her return.

Taylor has traditionally rotated his City side in the Continental Cup this season, with Sandy MacIver, Mary Fowler, Julie Blakstad and Steph Houghton all featuring heavily. It will be interesting to see if his approach continues into the latter stages of the competition.

Bristol City vs Man City score prediction

Bristol have enjoyed a strong second season back in the Championship, sitting second with seven wins from their first 10 league matches. They will leapfrog leaders London City Lionesses if they win their game in hand. The Vixens narrowly topped their Continental Cup group after finishing level on points with Lewes and Charlton to set up Wednesday's quarter-final clash.

Man City emphatically topped their Conti Cup group with four wins from four, and should be expected to continue the defence of their title relatively comfortably against second-tier Bristol.

Score prediction: Bristol City 0-3 Man City
