Manchester United are hoping to keep their extremely slim top four hopes alive when they travel to Brighton in the Premier League this weekend.

Ralf Rangnick's side put on one of their best performances in months in their final home game of the season against Brentford on Monday night, but still trail fourth place Arsenal by five points and have played two games more. Tottenham also remain the mix and have two games in hand too.

Brighton ironically beat both Arsenal and Tottenham in successive games in April and are in much better form than they were for six consecutive Premier League defeats in February and March - Graham Potter's team have lost only on in their last six and that was to Manchester City.

Brighton team news

Enock Mwepu has definitely been ruled out of facing United after coming off injured against Wolves last weekend, with Jakub Moder also sidelined.

Jeremy Sarmiento was also missing against Wolves and will remain a doubt for this game unless confirmed otherwise.

However, Tariq Lamptey could return to the starting XI.

Man Utd team news

Luke Shaw, Jadon Sancho and Paul Pogba are ruled out of this one.

Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were both back in training on Wednesday after recent absences, which boosts their respective potential return to the squad on Saturday.

Fred will be in contention to start after making his comeback from the bench on Monday.

Brighton vs Man Utd score prediction

There is no escaping the fact that Manchester United have been carried by Cristiano Ronaldo in recent months. The 37-year-old is playing to his strengths, which are obviously now much different to his younger self, and looked really up for it against Brentford in particular.

If Brighton can find a way to suppress the Ronaldo threat, there is every chance they will earn a positive result, because United remain otherwise limited - especially with Jadon Sancho out.

The reverse of this fixture finished 2-0 in United's favour at Old Trafford, with Ronaldo scoring what proved to be the decisive goal moments before Lewis Dunk was sent off. There is every reason to believe he could have a similar impact again.

Prediction: Brighton 1-2 Man Utd
