Arsenal are looking to make it two consecutive WSL wins when they travel to Brighton this week, hoping to make the most of one of their outstanding games in hand to go back into the top three.

Jonas Eidevall watched his team grind out a tough 1-0 win over Leicester last Friday, which became an even better result when Manchester City were surprisingly beaten by Liverpool on Sunday. Now only three points off third place and with a better goal difference, Arsenal could make that jump here.

Meanwhile, Brighton have experienced considerable new manager bounce since appointing Melissa Phillips last month. The American immediately oversaw the Seagulls push Manchester United all the way in their FA Cup semi-final, with her team since picking up seven WSL points from a possible 12.

That surge of results, picking up as many wins (2) in Phillips' four league games in charge as they managed in the previous 15, has fired Brighton up the table and now makes it highly unlikely that they will be in the relegation zone come the end of the season. But they will want to keep their form going.

Club captain Victoria Williams was absent from the matchday squad against West Ham but has largely been an unused substitute in the WSL since before Christmas.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Lydia Williams also missed that one after getting injured in the pre-match warm-up and was replaced by Megan Walsh.

Brighton vs Arsenal score prediction

The way that Manchester United needed an 89th minute winner to beat Brighton in the FA Cup a little over three weeks ago will be an obvious warning to a depleted Arsenal side. They also met resistance from Leicester only days ago, a team slightly closer to the bottom of the table.

The Gunners are at least in a position now where they have no additional distractions. And as long as Frida Maanum is in the team, they still have a player capable of winning any game.

Prediction: Brighton 0-1 Arsenal
