Brighton bring 2021 to a much needed close with a trip to the scene of many unfavourable nights as they travel to Chelsea's Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.

The Seagulls have never recorded a victory away to Chelsea in their history, losing six of their seven visits without scoring a single goal. Although, Graham Potter's side did eke out a 0-0 draw on their last jaunt to the west of the capital.

Here's the XI that Potter may select to go one better for what would be an historic win.

Brighton predicted lineup vs Chelsea

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Robert Sanchez (GK) - Potter singled out Brighton's shot-stopper for praise after keeping his first clean sheet of the month against Brentford in the wake of a perceived dip in form from the 24-year-old.

Tariq Lamptey (RB) - Brighton's baby-faced fullback spent more than a decade at Chelsea before the south coast club snatched him up for less than £3m in 2020.

Adam Webster (CB) - The club record fee of £22.5m it took to acquire Webster's services is less than Chelsea's marquee arrival Romelu Lukaku will earn in two years' wages (according to Spotrac).

Dan Burn (CB) - 82 minutes of Burn's man of the match performance against Brentford was conducted after the giant defender popped his shoulder back into its socket.

Marc Cucurella (LB) - The former Barcelona academy player recently confirmed his lack of reservations in making the switch from Spain to the Seagulls in the summer - a feeling the club undoubtedly echo given the quality of his performances.

2. Midfielders

Enock Mwepu (CM) - On his longest run of consecutive Premier League starts (three), Brighton's most expensive signing of the summer is becoming an increasingly regular fixture of the first team.

Yves Bissouma (CM) - Available for selection once again after a one-game suspension, Brighton's victory in his absence is unlikely to sway Potter's selection when it comes to his scarcely overlooked midfield screen.

Alexis Mac Allister (CM) - The Christmas Eve-born Argentina international may have made just three Premier League starts this season, but has only been outscored by two teammates in this term's competition.

Pascal Gross (AM) - Brighton's most prolific assist provider in three of his four previous seasons on the south coast may have the chance to add to this campaign's tally after a bout of Covid-19.

3. Forwards

Neal Maupay (ST) - Only two players in England's top flight have contributed a larger proportion of their team's Premier League goals than Brighton's top scorer (44%).

Danny Welbeck (ST) - With Leandro Trossard a doubt, the former Arsenal forward may be in line for just his fourth league start of the campaign.
