Karlan Grant's late strike stole West Brom a point at Brighton on Monday night, cancelling out Jake Livermore's comedic own goal from the first half at the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls dominated the early stages as Neal Maupay saw two good opportunities - one an effort disallowed for offside and the other a saved one on one - missed before they took the lead.

The hosts took the lead when Adam Lallana's blocked shot fell for Tariq Lamptey who slammed the ball across goal, resulting in Branislav Ivanovic's attempted clearance hitting Livermore in the face and bouncing in.

However, Brighton were made to pay for their inability to make their dominance pay as Grant found space in the box to fire past Mathew Ryan emphatically.

Let's get into some player ratings.

BRIGHTON

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Mathew Ryan (GK) - 6/10 - There aren't many goalkeepers louder than Australia international Ryan in the Premier League. Made a few saves from some long range efforts.

Adam Webster (CB) - 5/10 - Named captain in Lewis Dunk's absence. Largely untroubled in the first half but booked for a lunging challenge late on.

Joel Veltman (CB) - 6/10 - A first start for the summer signing, who slotted nicely into the middle of Brighton's three man defence. A pretty seamless draft in but wasn't overly worked.

Dan Burn (CB) - 6/10 - Has ridiculously good feet for a 6'6 defender, one such example setting the Seagulls away on the counter. Had a good sarcastic moan at the referee over one decision.

2. Wing Backs & Midfielders

Tariq Lamptey (RWB) - 7/10 - Fired a cross across the box for the own goal. Got the better of Grady Diangana throughout their battle and was strong on the ball. Booked just after the first goal.

Yves Bissouma (CM) - 7/10 - Brought some quick feet and thinking on Monday night. Assertive and helped Brighton get on the front foot throughout.

Ben White (CM) - 6/10 -Might have slipped back into defence with Dunk's absence but featured again in central midfield. Combative and easy on the ball in a solid if not particularly eye-catching display.

Solly March (LWB) - 6/10 - A 100th league start for Brighton's utility man. Could have used the ball better on a few occasions but otherwise solid.

3. Forwards

Leandro Trossard (FW) - 7/10 - Drew a save from Johnstone with an effort from range and injected pace for the Albion in transition.

Adam Lallana (FW) - 7/10 - The type of game he can enjoy. Lallana, like Trossard, found plenty of space whenever the Seagulls countered and set up a few chances. Substituted around the hour mark.

Neal Maupay (ST) - 5/10 - Strayed offside to have a goal disallowed and struck straight at Sam Johnstone when well placed. Brighton create some wonderful openings for the striker but he often needs four or five chances a game to score.

4. Substitutes

Pascal Gross - 6/10

Alexis Mac Allister - 6/10

Steven Alzate - 5/10

WEST BROM

5. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Sam Johnstone (GK) - 6/10 - Could do little about the goal but made a few sharp stops, including denying Maupay when he was through on goal.

Darnell Furlong (RB) - 5/10 - The 24-year-old was strangely the Baggies' main attacking threat in the opening period, taking two shots from distance early on. Struggled as Brighton stretched play out wide.

Branislav Ivanovic (CB) - 4/10 - Pretty panicked defending from the former Chelsea star for the own goal. Gave the ball away a few times in bad areas, too.

Semi Ajayi (CB) - 5/10 - Like Ivanovic, wasn't particularly assured in possession. Enjoyed a few nice tussles with Maupay, who's usually a ratty player to deal with.

Conor Townsend (LB) - 5/10 - Brighton often got in down the 27-year-old's channel, with Lamptey enjoying space out wide while Lallana drifted around him.

6. Midfielders

Jake Livermore (DM) - 4/10 - Truly in the wrong place at the wrong time for the own goal. Couldn't give West Brom much of a foothold and was constantly chasing back.

Conor Gallagher (CM) - 5/10 - A few nice turns from the Chelsea loanee during the first half and saw a well struck effort blocked in the second.

Filip Krovinovic (CM) - 4/10 - Tested Ryan with a good thump from distance. Just couldn't get involved positively and pretty anonymous aside from that.

7. Forwards

Matheus Pereira (RW) - 6/10 - Mainly quiet but missed a good opportunity from the edge of the box in the second half. Struck the woodwork. too.

Karlan Grant (ST) - 7/10 - Barely involved during the opening 45 minutes, managing just nine touches as West Brom struggled to assert themselves. Similarly quiet in the second period but his goal was ruthlessly taken.

Grady Diangana (LW) - 4/10 - Disappointingly quiet. Never truly went toe to toe with Lamptey in what was one of the game's more intriguing battles pre-match.

8. Substitutes

Callum Robinson - 7/10

Kyle Edwards - 6/10
