From the AMEX - Brighton were left to rue missed opportunities as they were held to a draw by Leeds despite dominating Saturday night's contest on the south coast.

The home side impressed in the first half, with Leandro Trossard and Jakub Moder both hitting the woodwork. Neal Maupay also squandered two good openings on his first start in over a month.

Leeds struggled for fluency in attack, with the likes of Raphinha and Rodrigo seeing little of the ball. They went close through Stuart Dallas, who had a long distance shot beaten away by Robert Sanchez.

Substitute Tyler Roberts injected some pace and life into the visitors' attacks, twice testing Sanchez with decent efforts, and while Solly March later hit the post, neither side could find a winner.

The result moves Brighton up to eighth, while Leeds remain 17th, three points above the relegation zone.

BRIGHTON PLAYER RATINGS

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Robert Sanchez (GK) - 7/10 - Wasn't called into action that often, but was alert to keep out Dallas' effort.

Joel Veltman (RB) - 7/10 -
Kept Harrison quiet for the majority of the contest. Was a good option in attacking areas and made frequent interceptions to keep Brighton pressing.

Lewis Dunk (CB) - 7/10 - Stepped up well to intercept passes and keep Brighton on the front foot during the first half.

Adam Webster (CB) - 6/10 - Kept pace with Leeds' runners when they went in behind. Played Dunk into trouble with a reckless pass but got away with it.

Marc Cucurella (LB) - 7/10 - A bundle of energy down the left. Combative and a willing runner throughout.

2. Wing backs & midfielders

Pascal Gross (CM) - 6/10 - Kept things ticking over, using the ball well when Brighton attacked.

Yves Bissouma (CM) - 7/10 -
Dominated in central midfield. Broke up Leeds' brief attacks and set Brighton on their way.

Jakub Moder (AM) - 7/10 - Made good runs and struck the woodwork from an extremely tight angle. Saw a shot-cross dribble across goal seconds before he blazed over from a more presentable position.

3. Forwards

Tariq Lamptey (RW) - 7/10 - Given plenty of licence to attack further forward and constantly found space with his quick feet and great speed. Impact died off a little in the second half but a good outing all in all.

Neal Maupay (ST) - 4/10 - Missed a glorious chance early, blazing over from point blank range. Went close again but couldn't get a good enough connection on Lamptey's cross. Not his day and brought off for Jurgen Locadia.

Leandro Trossard (LW) - 7/10 - Struck the post with a fierce drive which Meslier got the slightest of touches to. Could have done better with another opportunity on the edge of the box. Brighton's brightest spark throughout.

4. Substitutions

Jurgen Locadia (ST) - 5/10 - Should have done better with a scuffed effort from the edge of the box.

Solly March (RW) - 6/10 -
Almost saw a deflected strike beat Meslier and so nearly bagged the winner later, instead seeing a shot come off the post.

Jeremy Sarmiento (LW) - 5/10 -
Came on for his Premier League debut.

LEEDS PLAYER RATINGS

5. Goalkeeper & defenders

Illan Meslier (GK) - 8/10 - Brilliant fingertip stop to prevent Trossard from opening the scoring. Also diverted March's deflected strike over the bar and swept up another close effort from the winger.

Stuart Dallas (RB) - 6/10 - Got Leeds' first shot on target, seeing a fierce drive batted away by Sanchez. Played all over pitch and was efficient in each position.

Diego Llorente (CB) - 6/10 - Stood up well to Brighton's attacking challenge and will be pleased with his side's clean sheet. Booked.

Liam Cooper (CB) - 6/10 - Had a brief scare when the ball popped onto his arm, but a penalty was never likely to be given. Solid otherwise.

Junior Firpo (LB) - 4/10 - Booked in the fifth minute. Really struggled to get to grips with Lamptey down the left and was brought off at half time.

6. Midfielders

Kalvin Phillips (CM) - 5/10 - Did start in defence but moved further forward to quell Brighton's midfield runners. Helped calm things down but was withdrawn at half time.

Adam Forshaw (CM) - 6/10 - Got in amongst it, making five tackles, though couldn't produce much quality with the ball at his feet.

Rodrigo (AM) - 4/10 - Pretty anonymous. Had one opening on the edge of the box but stuck it in row Z.

7. Forwards

Marc Cucurella, Daniel James

Raphinha (RW) - 5/10 - Has the talent to dominate games from start to finish but just didn't see enough of the ball.

Daniel James (ST) - 4/10 - Poor lad just looked very cold out in the brutal south coast wind. Barely got any of the ball.

Jack Harrison (LW) - 5/10 - Didn't have too many opportunities and was shut down by Veltman when he did get the ball. Subbed off after an hour.

8. Substitutions

Jamie Shackleton (RB) - 6/10 - Solid outing on his first appearance since October. Booked for stopping a counter attack.

Pascal Struijk (CM) - 6/10 - Gave Leeds more of a foothold in midfield.

Tyler Roberts (LW) - 7/10 - Immediately got in behind the Brighton defence upon his introduction and tested Sanchez with a low drive. Went close again soon after. Leeds' best attacker on the night.
