Brian Rodriguez ready to compete with Club America: 'My expectations are very high'

Brian Rodriguez is ready to compete in Liga MX. 

The player arrived in Mexico City earlier this week after completing a transfer from LAFC to Club America. He was officially presented as the team’s newest reinforcement, eyeing a possible debut on Saturday as Club America faces Tigres UANL on Saturday.

But despite the quick turnaround, Rodriguez insists he’s ready for whatever the Eagles have in store for him.

"I am a very fast boy, I like to face a lot, I have no problem playing on both wings, I will give 100 percent where I am, the charrúa claw will always be there," said Brian Rodríguez in his first conference.

"I don't know if it's the biggest [challenge of my career], but I do know where I am, it's a great team, I'll give my all when it comes to me, the opportunities I have, I see it as a great goal, I don't see it as the biggest challenge of my life, I am 22 years old, I come to grow here, to learn a lot, to give my best."

The player joined Club America after a somewhat drawn out transfer saga, seeing the news of a possible agreement leaked weeks before the final contract was completed. But Rodriguez insists America’s confidence to sign the player brought him to Mexico City. 

"Everything possible was done, thanks to many people, America's confidence was fundamental, I am very happy to join a team as big as America, my expectations are very high, to achieve many goals that the club has and to contribute my bit of sand where you can," he said. 

"America showed that they did have a lot of confidence in me, the coaching staff, the people were also very important, and if the player doesn't want to, things change, I wanted to be here I'm proud to be here. I've seen the team do well, but nothing, being able to join the team, train with the group, I know there's a lot of competition, but I'm here to do my bit, give my best wherever I can, be in the team or not, always be positive."

The team sits in second on the Liga MX table with 22 points in 11 games and a record of 7W-3L-1D. Despite a turbulent start to the 2022 Apertura, the Eagles have turned things around rather quickly to now eye a direct path into the playoffs.
