Paris Saint Germain finished as runners-up on the final day of the Ligue 1 season, despite beating Brest 2-0 on Sunday night.

The visitors had a glorious opportunity to break the deadlock in a cagey affair when Angel Di Maria was bundled over clumsily in the box by Romain Faivre. However, Brest goalkeeper Gautier Larsonneur seemingly shook Neymar with risky mind games, as the Brazilian rolled his spot kick wide of the upright.

PSG did manage top break the deadlock before half time, though, when a Di Maria corner, which took a little nick off Faivre, swung straight into the net after 37 minutes. The visitors managed to double their advantage in the 72nd minute, when Kylain Mbappe made the most of a rare opportunity to run in behind, latching onto Di Maria's through ball, rounding the goalkeeper and eventually tapping in.

The win pushed PSG onto 82 points, but wasn't enough to leapfrog eventual-title-winners Lille, who concluded their campaign with a 2-1 victory away at Angers at the same time. Now, let's take a look at how the disappointed Parisians rated...

PSG PLAYER RATINGS

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Keylor Navas (GK) - 8/10 - Was faced with a couple of shots but remained solid to keep a clean sheet - notably making a stunning stop with 20 minutes to go.

Colin Dagba (RB) - 6/10 -
Continuously featured far up the right flank but just couldn't find an accurate cross for his life. Did a decent job in stifling the threat of Romain Perraud, which is no mean feat.

Marquinhos (CB) - 7/10 -
Positioned himself to good effect for the most part, making five interventions but was occasionally troubled by Steve Mounie (yes, the ex-Huddersfield one).

Presnel Kimpembe (CB) - 8/10 -
Saw very little of the ball but undertook defensive duties as competently and strongly as ever, covering to make four clearances and win three aerial duals.

Abdou Diallo (LB) - 6/10 -
Read the game well enough and was composed in getting the ball out of defence, but didn't contribute much in attack.

2. Midfielders

Danilo (DM) - 6/10 - Very little of Brest's play came through the middle, so he didn't have all that much to do. Showed good awareness in the box, though, and positioned himself to win four aerial battles throughout.

Ander Herrera (CM) - 6/10 - Pressed tenaciously and roamed forward to get involved with play upfield, occasionally linking up well with those in front. Just failed to really up the tempo when his side needed it, though.

Rafinha (CM) - 6/10 - Struggled to pick out pockets of space in a congested midfield and couldn't pull strings like Marco Verratti would. Did put in a defensive shift, though, making five tackles.

3. Forwards

Angel Di Maria (RW) - 8/10 - Covered a lot of ground and looked the most likely to make something happen. Forced the opener (which was probably an own goal) via his corner and played a delicious ball through to Mbappe for the second.

Kylian Mbappe (ST) - 7/10 - Struggled to get in behind a deep back line and received minimal service throughout. Made the most of his one chance, though, and kept his cool to grab a 27th Ligue 1 goal this campaign.

Neymar (LW) - 4/10 -
Oh dear. What a terrible penalty. Let's leave it at that.

4. Substitutes

Idrissa Gueye (CM) - 6/10

Mauro Icardi (ST) - 6/10
