Brentford will host Chelsea on Wednesday as both sides look to maintain their solid starts to the season.

The Bees saw off Brighton 2-0 at the weekend to remain in the top half of the Premier League, with Ivan Toney continuing his goalscoring escapades and keeping pace with the division's heavy hitters.

Chelsea haven't had a goalscorer like that for a while now but Mason Mount has been doing his best to fire the Blues up the table, and Graham Potter's side can move within a point of Manchester City with a positive result here.

The last time these two met was in April, when Antonio Rudiger scored a worldie and Brentford then proceeded to smash four past Thomas Tuchel's side. Just leaving the memory of that here.

Here's all you need to know about this one.

Brentford team news

There are no fresh concerns for Thomas Frank, but the Dane's squad is far from full strength.

Pontus Jansson is dealing with a hamstring injury and Christian Norgaard is out with an Achilles problem, while Thomas Strakosha and Aaron Hickey have both been sidelined with ankle issues.

Brentford predicted lineup vs Chelsea

Brentford Starting XI (4-3-3): Raya; Ajer, Pinnock, Mee, Henry; Jensen, Janelt, Onyeka; Mbeumo, Toney, Wissa

Bench: Cox, Zanka, Rasmussen, Dasilva, Baptiste, Ghoddos, Damsgaard, Lewis-Potter, Canos

Chelsea team news

Reece James, N'Golo Kante and Wesley Fofana all remain out, while final checks will need to be done on Thiago Silva (thigh) and Hakim Ziyech (illness).

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is back to full fitness but has no chance of displacing Kepa Arrizabalaga, who produced arguably the best performance of his Chelsea career in the recent 2-0 win over Aston Villa.

Potter may opt to shift to a four-at-the-back setup here, having seen how open his side were at the back last time out.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Brentford

Chelsea Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Kepa; Azpilicueta, Chalobah, Koulibaly, Chilwell; Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho; Gallagher, Mount, Sterling; Aubameyang

Bench: Mendy, Cucurella, Silva, Zakaria, Kovacic, Chukwuemeka, Pulisic, Broja, Havertz

Brentford vs Chelsea score prediction

Chelsea's recent good form is a little deceptive and doesn't factor in a handful of concerning defensive performances, the worst of which came last time out against Aston Villa. Toney and co will fancy their chances of finding a way through a Blues back line, which has been weakened by injury and fitness concerns.

However, the same can be said for Chelsea's forward line, who will have watched Brentford hang on for dear life against Brighton one week after shipping five to Newcastle. These are two sides who love both scoring and conceding goals.

This could be one of the more entertaining match-ups of the round, and we're backing Chelsea to edge it.

Prediction: Brentford 1-2 Chelsea
