Brighton earned a dramatic 1-0 win over Brentford with a last minute goal from Leandro Trossard.

Brentford started the game full of confidence, exemplified by Ivan Toney almost chipping Robert Sanchez from about 50 yards.

The Bees then saw three decent chances fall to Bryan Mbeumo, but the forward rushed the first two efforts on goal, sweeping the pair fairly far over the Brighton goal, then curled the third wide from the right of the penalty area.

After that the first half kind of turned into...well...you know...a dud. There was a distinct lack of quality on show at times - perhaps not helped by the stop-start nature of the half.

The second half continued in much the same vein, with neither side really showing that they were capable of winning the game.

Then, in the dying embers of the game, SOMETHING FINALLY HAPPENED.

Brighton bagged a 90th minute winner thanks to Trossard, who curled a wonderful strike into the bottom right corner.

Here's how the players rated.

Brentford player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

David Raya

David Raya (GK) - 6/10 - Made one save he should make in the first half from a rather tame Danny Welbeck effort. Could do nothing about the winner.

Kristoffer Ajer (CB) - 5/10 - Caught in behind at times, but decent otherwise.

Pontus Jansson (CB) - 6/10 - A calming figure at the heart of the defence.

Ethan Pinnock (CB) - 6/10 - Coped well with what little threat Brighton offered.

2. Midfielders & Wing-Backs

Rico Henry, Jakub Moder

Sergi Canos (RWB) - 5/10 - His delivery from out wide could've been a bit better in the first half. Was subbed in the second half.

Shandon Baptiste (CM) - 5/10 - Worked hard in the middle without really making his mark on the game.

Christian Norgaard (CM) - 6/10 - Couldn't get on the ball as much as he'd like due to the presence of Bissouma.

Vitaly Janelt (CM) - 6/10 - Had a half chance fall to him at the end of the first half, but fired the ball straight at Sanchez.

Rico Henry (LWB) - 7/10 - One of the key men in Brentford's high pressing game.

3. Forwards

Bryan Mbeumo (ST) - 6/10 - Great foil for Toney, link up brilliantly together, but he did lack a bit of composure when he did see a few chances fall to him.

Ivan Toney (ST) - 7/10 - Clearly full of confidence after bagging his first Premier League goal recently, trying to chip the goalkeeper from basically the half-line in the first half - and nearly succeeding in doing so.

5. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Robert Sanchez
Solid as ever / Soccrates Images/Getty Images

Robert Sanchez (GK) - 6/10 - Nearly caught out by Toney's audacious effort early on. After that was very solid, especially from set pieces.

Adam Webster (CB) - N/A - Pulled up with a hamstring strain in the first half.

Shane Duffy (CB) - 6/10 - Ran a bit ragged by Toney at times, but was as strong as ever in the air and make a great tackle to stop Mbeumo with 20 minutes left.

Lewis Dunk (CB) - 5/10 -
Like Duffy, he struggled with the Brentford forwards' movement.

6. Midfielders & Wing-Backs

Yves Bissouma, Vitaly Janelt

Joel Veltman (RWB) - 5/10 - Delivery was very poor from the right flank.

Adam Lallana (CM) - N/A - Ummmmm...yeah he was on the pitch for a while...apparently.

Leandro Trossard (CM) - 7/10 - Not his greatest game, but made the difference with a late winner.

Yves Bissouma (CM) - 6/10 - Proper good footballer, and will no doubt be playing for one of the top six teams this time next year.

Marc Cucurella (LWB) - 5/10 - A quiet afternoon for the new signing.

7. Forwards

Danny Welbeck, Sergi Canos

Danny Welbeck (ST) - 3/10 - Missed a great chance on the 15th minute mark, and did basically nothing thereafter.

Neal Maupay (ST) - 5/10 - A proper handful at times, ran the channels and in behind Brenford's defence well, but really didn't have any quality service to feed off.

8. Substitutes

Jakub Moder - 5/10 - Came on for the injured Webster. He was fairly solid.

Alexis Mac Allister - 6/10 - Made a difference when he came on.

Solly March - N/A
