Belgium predicted lineup vs Portugal - Euro 2020

Belgium surprised no-one as they breezed through Group B after picking up maximum points from their three outings, though their round of 16 tie represents a real test as they come up against reigning European champions Portugal.

Roberto Martinez's are one of the favourites to dethrone Portugal at Euro 2020, but they've been one of the favourites at just about every one of the last three major international tournaments and are still yet to taste success.

If they're going to finally secure their first major tournament victory they're going to have to beat some good sides along the way, and Portugal represents their first major hurdle.

Here's how 90min predicts Martinez's side could line up on Sunday...

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Thibaut Courtois (GK) - Conceded just once in the tournament so far after picking up clean sheets against Finland and Russia. Likely to be handed his biggest test of the competition to date as he faces a certain Cristiano Ronaldo.

Toby Alderweireld (CB) - Has looked more like a 52-year-old than a 32-year-old at times this tournament and will need to be much better if Belgium are to keep Portugal at bay.

Jason Denayer (CB) - What he adds to the backline in youth he takes away with the odd howler. Looks to have established himself as the preferred choice to Dedryck Boyata after sitting out their opener against Russia.

Jan Vertonghen (CB) - Rested last time out against Finland with qualification already in the bag so should be fresh to face Portugal's lethal frontline.

2. Midfielders & Wing-Backs

Thomas Meunier (RWB) - Has been handed his chance following the awful injury picked up by Leicester's Timothy Castagne and has taken the opportunity with both hands so far.

Youri Tielemans (CM) - We're going to assume he was rested for the clash with Finland rather than being dropped because he's produced some stellar performances at the tournament so far.

Kevin De Bruyne (CM) - Made his comeback in dramatic fashion against Denmark - grabbing a goal and an assist - before continuing his return to full fitness by playing 80 minutes in the final group game.

Thorgan Hazard (LWB) - Has added balance to the Belgium midfield and looks to be a real threat when his side push forward.

3. Forwards

Dries Mertens (RW) - It hasn't quite happened for him so far at Euro 2020 but he's a willing runner and offers good movement which helps free up space for Belgium's lethal number nine.

Romelu Lukaku (ST) - Speak of the devil. Even when he's not scoring he's a nightmare for defenders and his ability to shield the ball and bring others into play as well we working the channels is imperative to his team's style of play.

Eden Hazard (LW) - Notched his first full 90 minutes for Belgium in nearly two years against Finland and could finally be on his way back to full fitness.
