Bayern Munich return to Bundesliga action on Sunday afternoon, aiming to put their current lull behind them as they host Greuther Furth.

Julian Nagelsmann's men have won just three of their six matches across all competitions since German football resumed after the mid-season break, losing twice and drawing once. That may not sound terrible, but this is Bayern Munich we're talking about.

Die Roten are winless in two heading into their clash with Greuther, having been upset 4-2 by Bochum in their previous Bundesliga outing before being held to a disappointing 1-1 draw away at Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League in midweek.

A win should be a certainty this weekend, however, as they host a Greuther side sitting rock bottom of the Bundesliga standings and looking odds on for relegation. They have, however, won two of their last three league fixtures - so this could get interesting.

Here's 90min's preview of the clash.

Bayern Munich team news

The Bundesliga leaders reverted to a back three in midweek and could continue with the system after their brilliant second-half display to earn a dramatic draw.

That means a similar lineup is expected, with Manuel Neuer and Leon Goretzka still missing out through knee injuries, while Alphonso Davies continues his stint out of action due to heart problems.

Meanwhile, Jamal Musiala might be in line to feature - if he is permitted to end his Covid-19 isolation period - although a start would be highly unlikely.

Greuther Furth team news

Long-term absentees Marius Funk, Robin Kehr and Jessic Ngankam will all miss out for the visitors once again, while Gideon Jung also remains out of contention through a knee problem.

Elsewhere, however, Stefan Leitl has no new injury concerns, so the Greuther boss should stick with the same XI that secured victory against Hertha Berlin last time out.

Bayern Munich vs Greuther Furth head-to-head record

As you might expect, the omens are pretty bleak for the visiting side. In 13 previous meetings, Bayern have managed 11 victories while the other two encounters resulted in draws.

All four encounters this century have gone Bayern's way with an aggregate scoreline of 14-3.

Bayern Munich vs Greuther Furth prediction

It would take something special for the Bundesliga basement boys to notch their first ever victory of Die Roten this weekend - and, in fairness, this is probably the best opportunity they'll get, with Bayern suffering a real rough patch of form.

Having said that, Nagelsmann has a group of winners at his disposal and, with the quality they possess, it's only a matter of time before their form undergoes a turnaround. This past week has proved pretty horrendous by Bayern's standards, but it's time to rectify that.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 5-1 Greuther Furth
