Bayern Munich have revealed Kingsley Coman will wear the club's number 11 shirt next season after its previous owner Douglas Costa returned to Juventus.

Coman was handed the 29 shirt when he arrived from Juventus in 2015 - a number he has retained throughout his six-year stay at the Allianz Arena - though with the number 11 shirt now free Bayern have decided it's time to hand Coman a more traditional winger's squad number.

Some great players have donned Die Roten's number 11 shirt down the years with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Mehmet Scholl, Bixente Lizarazu, Ze Roberto and Lukas Podolski all among its previous owners.

Bayern have now taken to their official website to confirm Coman is the next to be handed the prestigious number.

"We'll see Kingsley Coman sporting a new number in future! The France international - whose goal in the final against Paris Saint-Germain won the Champions League for FC Bayern in 2020 - will now play in the number 11 shirt."

Coman may be given his first opportunity to showcase his new shirt number when Bayern face Ajax in a pre-season friendly at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Julian Nagelsmann's side are also scheduled to play Borussia Monchengladbach and Serie A outfit Napoli before they kick off their 2021/22 season with a DFB Pokal tie against Bremer SV, while they've also recently announced a friendly against Schalke which will be used to raise money for those impacted by the flash floods.

Parts of Germany and Belgium have been decimated by the recent floods, and Bayern have subsequently confirmed they will donate at least €1m to the victims - a figure which could grow depending on how much money is raised.

The friendly will take place at Schalke's Veltins-Arena, though as of yet the two sides have yet to set a date.
