The Bayern Munich Lineup That Should Start Against Sevilla

Fresh from spanking Schalke 8-0 in their Bundesliga opener, Bayern Munich travel to Budapest to face Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup on Thursday night.

The Champions League winners have managed the seemingly impossible task of strengthening their side with the signing of Leroy Sane from Manchester City, demonstrating that Bayern remain the boot stamping on the throat of German football.

Despite their current aura of invincibility, Sevilla will be wily and tough opponents and Bayern might not win by an eight-goal margin.

Here is how we think they should look on Thursday.

1. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Manuel Neuer (GK) - The stalwart keeper remains one of the world's best and he will be looking to add to his heaving trophy collection in Budapest.

Benjamin Pavard (RB) - The World Cup winner has made the right back spot his own in Munich with solid defending complimenting some incisive attacking runs.

Niklas Sule (CB) - The imposing figure of Sule would be enough for this author to cower in the dressing room and it is no surprise he has this effect on opposition strikers too.

Jerome Boateng (CB) - Having recovered from Roy Keane's criticism of his shoe collection two years ago, Boateng remains a crucial figure in the Bayern rear-guard. Will be tasked with keeping Luuk de Jong quiet.

Alphonso Davies (LB) - A revelation last season, the young Canadian is arguably the world's most desired left back. Has pace that would embarrass a 100m finalist with end-product to boot.

2. Midfielders

Joshua Kimmich (CM) - Labelled as the new Philipp Lahm by some, the versatile Kimmich has the ability to remain in the Bayern first team for the next decade. His duel with Ivan Rakitic should be fascinating.

Leon Goretzka (CM) - Slightly overlooked in favour of more glamorous names, every successful team needs a player like Goretzka to function. Tripled his muscle mass since joining from Schalke two years ago.

Thomas Muller (CM) - Bayern's deployment of a 4-3-3 formation has meant Muller now plays in a more withdrawn role. With typical self-effacing efficiency, Muller has taken to the role without losing any of his goal threat or ability to crack top-quality dad jokes.

3. Attackers

Leroy Sane (RW) - Notched a goal on his debut against Schalke and will be looking to add to his tally on Thursday. His ability to run directly at defenders is a terrifying proposition to play against.

Robert Lewandowski (ST) - Unquestionably the world's best striker, the Pole scored a remarkable 55 goals last season as Bayern swept all before them. Would have been a fitting Ballon d'Or winner before the award's cancellation.

Serge Gnabry (LW) - Impossible to discuss without also mentioning Tony Pulis, the rapid winger has added end product to his undoubted natural gifts and scored a hat-trick in their Bundesliga opener. Possesses all the ability to make a match winning contribution against Sevilla.
