Bayern Munich have launched their new adidas home kit for the 2020/21 season (on sale at Adidas now), a red jersey with white trim that has a distinctly ‘classic’ look to it. It will be worn with red shorts and red socks.

The simple all-red look moves away from some of the more vibrant or bold kits that Bayern have used over the last 30 years, with blue not a feature of the shirt this time around.

Bayern say of their new shirt, “The familiar look unites the club's awareness of tradition and the solidarity with the entire FC Bayern family.”

The trademark adidas stripes are white to contrast the red of the shirt, while a subtle striped design appears on the body of the shirt for a different look to this season’s more graphic design.

The goalkeeper kit for stopper Manuel Neuer will be a blue-green strip.

Bayern will wear the new 2020/21 kit for the first time in Wednesday night’s DFB Pokal semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt. A place in the final against Bayer Leverkusen is up for grabs after Leverkusen easily saw off fourth tier Saarbrucken in their own semi-final on Tuesday.

Despite early competition from RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, Bayern are closing in on an eighth consecutive Bundesliga title. Having beaten Leverkusen in their last outing, Hansi Flick’s team need only two more wins from their final four games to claim the trophy again.

Bayern’s tough start to the season, which culminated in the dismissal of former coach Niko Kovac, saw them fall as low as seventh at one point. But, since mid-December, the Bavarian giants have taken 46 points from a possible 48 to climb back to the top and clear of the rest.

The real killer blow in the title race shortly after the season resumed from the enforced coronavirus pause and beat Dortmund by a single Joshua Kimmich goal in Der Klassiker.
