Bayern Munich director Max Eberl recently made contact with Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi about taking over at the Allianz Arena this summer, a report has claimed.

Bayern have already confirmed that current boss Thomas Tuchel will leave his post at the end of the season, adding their name to a growing list of elite sides who will hire new managers this summer.

Barcelona and Liverpool will definitely be changing managers and both clubs are interested in De Zerbi, while the Italian has also intrigued Chelsea and Manchester United as the two Premier League sides explore their options heading into the new season.

Now joining the race for De Zerbi's signature are Bayern. According to BILD, Eberl recently reached out to the Brighton boss to gauge his interest in a move to Germany and was delighted to hear that De Zerbi would be open to such a switch.

It is understood that De Zerbi, whose assistant recently confessed a return to Serie A would be high on his wish list, is seen by Bayern as a potential alternative to top target Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen.

Reports in Germany recently claimed that Alonso would choose to join Bayern over Liverpool this summer if he does leave Bayer, but a departure from his current club is far from certain at this point and so the Bundesliga giants are in contact with a number of alternatives.

Zinedine Zidane and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have also been touted as possible targets for Bayern, who are keen to find their next manager as soon as possible due to the immense competition from rivals this summer.

Bayern, Barcelona and Liverpool are all on the hunt for new managers and there could be even more clubs hiring new bosses if Chelsea or United choose to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino or Erik ten Hag respectively.

De Zerbi, whose Brighton contract runs until 2026, is understood to have a release clause worth €15m in his deal.
