Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic has insisted he is looking forward to watching the Bavarians butt heads with Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final.

Two of the favourites to win the whole competition, Bayern and City will face off for the chance to advance to the semi-finals, where they would have to overcome either Real Madrid or Chelsea to make it to the final.

It's a tough path for Bayern but one which does not scare Salihamidzic, who was quick to point out how well the Bundesliga dealt with Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Paris Saint-Germain in the last round.

"I like playing against the best guys," Salihamidzic said. "Our boys are very focused then.

"It's a top pairing. It's a difficult opponent, in my opinion the strongest. It's another mini-final. After Paris, it's another squad who have a lot of quality. They won convincingly against Leipzig.

"We'll see Pep Guardiola again. I'm looking forward to it.

"[Erling] Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world. He's doing very, very well there. But we defended very well against Paris, although I think City are doing even better at the moment.

"I think City vs Bayern is the most exciting duel in the quarter-finals. I think we're at our best against the best teams. For fans, these games are the highlights of the season."

On the other side of the draw, Inter will face Benfica and AC Milan take on Napoli, with one of those four sides guaranteed to reach the final.
