Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund: Picking a combined XI for Der Klassiker

For many, there's no better game to watch in German football than Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund, even though this rivalry is born purely out of trophy winning and success rather than geography.
Ahead of the latest instalment of the two behemoths locking horns, there's only one logical thing to do. Pick a combined XI, let you chew it over and see if we're right when the game is all said and done. Enjoy...
1. Goalkeeper & Defenders
Manuel Neuer (GK): Arguably the best goalkeeper of his generation, Manuel Neuer is the obvious choice. Redefined the role with his sweeper keeper antics, giving Bayern the confidence to play with such a high line.
Niklas Sule (RB): Usually Benjamin Pavard would be slotting in at right back, but injuries have allowed Niklas Sule to step in to an unfamiliar position. Rather than baulk at the positional change, he's embraced it - and may actually keep hold of the spot even when the Frenchman is fully fit.
Mats Hummels (CB): Germany's best defender of the modern era, Hummels is Dortmund's leader. Dominant in the air and excellent on the ball, he was one of the best around in his prime and his high football IQ more than makes up for his lack of pace.
David Alaba (CB): A versatile and complete defender, Alaba hasn't allowed the uncertainty over his future to affect his form. Quick, excellent on the ball and composed in one on one situations, he is a perfect partner for Hummels.
Alphonso Davies (LB): Unavailable for the clash in November 2020 because of a torn ankle ligament, Davies is back and firing down Bayern's left. Has searing pace to burn and plenty of end product.
2. Midfielders
Thomas Muller (RM): Remember when everybody had written Muller off and decided he wasn't up to it anymore? Yes, Joachim Low, we're looking at you. Fortunately, Bayern Munich weren't so silly, and they've reaped the benefits of his increased availability ever since.
Joshua Kimmich (CM): Arguably the most complete footballer in the world right now, Kimmich gets into any team in the world. Possesses an incredible range, ability to escape the press, while he can put his foot in too.
Leon Goretzka (CM): One of the most improved players over the past couple of years, Goretzka is now a world class operator. Has stepped up to become a leader following Thiago Alcantara's departure - as well as beefing up in the muscles department.
Jadon Sancho (LM): One of the best young wingers in the world, Sancho would have every chance of getting into any team. A difficult start to 2020/21 is now in the rear view mirror, and the young England international is again showing why Manchester United badly want him.
3. Forwards
Erling Haaland (ST): The best young striker in the world, bar none. His goalscoring record is frightening and the variation of goals he scores make him almost impossible to stop. A world class talent and 90% cyborg.
Robert Lewandowski (ST): If you thought Haaland was good, cop a load of how good Lewandowski is. The Pole is the ultimate centre forward, capable of doing anything you ask him of him. Crucially, he's absolutely obsessed with doing one thing - scoring a sh*t load of goals. Four golden boot wins in the last six seasons attest to that.
