A hat-trick from Robert Lewandowski, some atrocious defending from RB Salzburg, a brace from Thomas Muller and goals from Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry were enough (obviously they were enough) to see Bayern Munich comfortably through to the Champions League quarter-finals.

The first leg had actually finished 1-1, but within 22 minutes of the second leg the tie had become a bit of a dead rubber.

Salzburg were made to pay for some terrible defending by - yep, you guessed it - Lewandowski in the 11th minute. The forward's wonderful touch and turn inside the penalty box bamboozled Maximilian Wöber, who chopped him down to gift Bayern a penalty. Lewa - yep, you guessed it - scored the resulting penalty kick.

Nine minutes later Wöber made the exact same challenge on Lewandowski to give away another penalty. And, obviously, Lewandowski made him pay for this stupidity by slotting the penalty into the back of the net.

In the 22nd minute, the Polish forward had his hat-trick. Another bit of calamitous play - surprisingly not from Wöber this time but from Köhn - was capitalised on by Lewa, who blocked a poor clearance before tapping in his third of the evening.

Then, on the half hour mark, it was 4-0. Serge Gnabry exploited some odd defending from Andres Ulmer (there had to be a mistake in there somewhere) to latch onto a pass from Kingsley Coman before side-footing the ball under a rather hapless Köhn.

Honestly we can't stress it enough, Salzburg were a mess defensively. They were horrid.

Bayern's dominance continued into the second half, with Thomas Muller making it 5-0. The German turned brilliantly on the edge of the box before slamming the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.

Despite the home side controlling the game, RB Salzburg actually managed to bag a consolation goal through Maurits Kjaergaard, who rifled the ball expertly into the top corner from a tight angle.

That moment of joy for Salzburg was short-lived however, as Muller bagged his second, and his side's sixth, of the evening in the 83rd minute - sweeping the ball into the net after a nice pass from Leroy Sane.

Before the final whistle, Sane still found time to bagged a goal of his own, making it 7-1 with a cool finish from the left-hand side of the penalty area.
