Bayern Munich closed in on their eighth straight Bundesliga title on Saturday, as they beat Fortuna Düsseldorf 5-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern needed 14 minutes to open the scoring, through the misfortune of Zanka. Serge Gnabry pulled the ball back to Benjamin Pavard, and his subsequent mishit was diverted into the back of the net.

Pavard did get his goal just shy of the half hour mark, with a fantastic header from Joshua Kimmich's corner. It was the Frenchman's fourth goal of the season and his second in his last four appearances, as Bayern assumed complete control of the game.

Die Roten made it three with a beautiful goal, finished off by none other than Robert Lewandowski. Kimmich pulled it back to Thomas Müller, Müller touched it on to Lewandowski and the Polish striker slotted it home in real style, all but killing the game off with another 45 minutes to play.

Lewandowski got his second four minutes into the second half, a delightful flicked backheel past a hapless Florian Kastenmeier. Alphonso Davies made it five just minutes later, battling through the Düsseldorf defence and slotting it into the back of the net.

After a huge win in Der Klassiker earlier this week, Bayern Munich could move 10 points clear with their eighth consecutive Bundesliga win. A disciplined defensive performance would have to be reproduced without the rock of Jérôme Boateng however, who dropped to the bench after going off injured late on in the derby victory.

Bayern went into the game in ruthless form, picking up exactly where they left off. A stroke of luck gave them the lead through Zanka's own goal, but Die Roten were dominant and clinical from the first whistle. Fortuna Düsseldorf stood no chance, coming up against the side with 16 goals in five games - the visitors' woeful defending combined with Bayern's force was only going to result in one outcome.

They looked dangerous in every attack, every passage of play, every movement towards the Düsseldorf goal. Five goals reflect an outstanding performance, with their third goal - a silky link up between Kimmich, Müller and Lewandowski - the best of the bunch, summing up just how incredible this Bayern team are. FCB were absolutely flawless, putting in an inch perfect performance.

Five goals in back to back home games is an unprecedented feat for some, but it's routine for Hans-Dieter Flick's current crop. 15 games unbeaten, eight consecutive victories and now 10 points clear at the top of the table, the Meisterschaft is well and truly in sight. Who can stop Bayern? At this rate, absolutely no one.

Thomas Müller

As it seems to be the case every time Bayern play, there are many excellent options for FCB's man of the match award. Robert Lewandowski added another brace to make it an incredible 43 goals for the season, Alphonso Davies was as lively as ever on the wing and Joshua Kimmich was everywhere.

But it was Thomas Müller who once again proved his worth. The 30-year-old was outstanding as per usual, assisting Bayern's third goal of the afternoon. His play at the heart of the attack was absolutely fantastic, showcasing his range of passing and attacking prowess again.

Müller has now recorded an incredible 18 assists for the season, far above the rest of the competition in the Bundesliga. It was another excellent display from the German veteran, who stood out as he has done all season - and the entirety of his trophy-laden career, for that matter.
