Bayern Munich secured their place in the final of the DFB-Pokal with a 2-1 win over a battling Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

Anyone who ludicrously thought an upset could be on the cards was quickly sinking into their sofa mere minutes into the clash, with Die Roten seeing an effort cleared off the line and Robert Lewandowski uncharacteristically missing the ball entirely when only a tap-in was needed to bag his 45th of the season.

Ivan Perisic bagged the goal Bayern's dominance deserved with a header on 14 minutes after being granted the freedom of Munich, and hadn't it been for some valiant Eintracht defending following that, they would have led further going into half time.

After being dominated for the first period, Eintracht improved greatly following the break - they actually had possession in Bayern's half - and presented the hosts with a number of nervy moments. Those who thought an upset could occur were now sitting up from their sofas, before grinning mercilessly when Danny da Costa grabbed the goal the visitors deserved.

Bayern responded in the only manner they know how, though, with Lewandowksi finishing off in the box - a goal that was originally ruled out for offside but overturned by VAR. Eintracht kept probing and pushing forwards, but their efforts were in vain as Bayern kept their hopes of a treble this season alive.

Key Talking Point

Will Bayern win the treble this season? Is there actually anything - or anyone - who can stop them? The short answer is no, and the long answer is noooo.

An unstoppable machine with no obvious flaws in sight, they're as efficient as they are measured, and as relentless as they are composed. The Bundesliga table is all but wrapped up already, and they're the side to be feared in the Champions League with their ten-goal haul from just two clashes in London particularly impressive.

Taking on mid-table Eintracht in their DFB-Pokal semi-final, based on their season thus far, there was little to suggest a differing degree of dominance to that they'd produced since football returned. Bayer Leverkusen await in the final, but even with quality of their own, they're simply not Bayern.

The game should have been over after 45 minutes, such was Bayern's dominance, but Frankfurt look transformed after the break to deservedly equalise. When they want to, though, they'll move up a gear will this Bayern team. And that they did, as expected.

Hans-Dieter Flick was initially put in charge during a difficult period for the side, but the way he's transformed them into a more organised, fluid and enjoyable to watch outfit deserves huge credit. Minor tactical and personnel tweaks have done the trick.

Now Europe best watch out.

Star Player - Joshua Kimmich

There is precious little that Joshua Kimmich can't do. Every facet of his game looks polished, very similar to Bayern's side as a whole, in fact.

Whether he's asked to defend, attack, speed the play up, slow it down, control possession or take risks in the final third, he'll do the lot.

He's a battler, too, as getting some studs to the neck in the second half prompted some rather considerable bleeding. His response? Say and do nothing, get treatment, come back on and assist Lewandowski's goal. What a professional. What a player.

Looking Ahead

Bayern are back at the Allianz Arena on Saturday as they play host to Borussia Mönchengladbach, knowing victory will go a long way to retaining the Bundesliga title they already have one firm hand on. For Eintracht, they travel to take on Hertha Berlin with (very) faint hopes of securing a European berth this season.
