Bayer Leverkusen have made it clear that they will not sanction any major sales in the January transfer window as they look to maintain their Bundesliga title challenge, 90min understands.

Xabi Alonso's side have been outstanding so far this season and lead the way in the Bundesliga ahead of Stuttgart, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund heading into the October international break.

The Spanish head coach has been tipped to leave Leverkusen to take over at Real Madrid - Carlo Ancelotti is expected to vacate his role at the end of the season - but 90min understands that former teammate Raul, currently in charge of Castilla, is also in the frame.

But it's interest in Leverkusen's best players that is of immediate concern. Edmond Tapsoba and Piero Hincapie attracted significant interest in the summer transfer window, while attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz has also caught the eye of a number of top European clubs.

But sources close to the club have confirmed to 90min that as it stands, there are 'no plans' to allow for any major exits in the near future.

Germany international Wirtz has long been considered one of the best midfield talents in Europe and has been on Manchester City and Barcelona’s radar, while Paris Saint-Germain have also joined the hunt in recent months.

Centre-backs Tapsoba and Hincapie have long been seen as two of the best young defenders playing in Europe and both have been extensively linked with moves to England - Manchester United and Tottenham were both looking at a summer deal for the former.

Tapsoba and Hincapie have signed new long-term contracts at Leverkusen already this year, but that has not seen interest in either player wane.
