Barcelona’s anticipated new Nike home kit for the 2022/23 season will see the club return to historic stripes after this campaign’s more abstract design, although the addition of a third colour means it will still not be an immediate return to the traditional.

The latest leak from FootyHeadlines suggests the iconic red and blue stripes will be joined by extra stipes in darker navy blue shade. The sleeves and side panels are also set to be coloured in the darker tone - in that sense, the new shirt will bear some resemblance to that worn in 2003/04.

The darker navy colour will also be used for the shorts and socks to complete the look. Barça have gone for dark shorts in the past, notably for the club’s 1999 centenary strip.

The 2022/23 kit for both the men and the women will be the first to bear Spotify branding following the recent announcement of a major new commercial partnership worth a reported €280m.

Spotify will replace Rakuten branding on the men’s jersey and Stanley branding on the women’s.

The music streaming giant will also hold the naming rights to Camp Nou from the summer onwards as part of the long-term deal, with it set to be redubbed the Spotify Camp Nou Stadium instead.
