Bayern Munich's winless streak in the Bundesliga stretched to four games as they were beaten 1-0 by Augsburg in a Bavarian derby courtesy of Mergim Berisha's strike.

The 24-year-old got on the end of a free kick not dealt with by Bayern's defence and slotted home to leave the visitors further off the pace in the Bundesliga title race.

Bayern's best chance extraordinarily came late on through Manuel Neuer, who headed straight at counterpart Rafal Gikiewicz from a set piece.

An early volley from Andre Hahn deflected into Florian Niederlechner's path, but his shot was blocked by Matthijs de Ligt and eventually scrambled clear.

Niederlechner gave De Ligt some more grief moments later, holding the Dutchman off while chasing a long ball, but his half volley was weak and saved by Manuel Neuer.

The action was end to end during an entertaining first half as Niederlechner drew a better stop from Neuer with an effort from distance, while Jamal Musiala saw his placed finish tipped wide by Gikiewicz.

Augsburg then missed a glorious opportunity to land the first blow. Iago's floated cross from the left picked out the unmarked Maximilian Bauer, but the centre back could only clear the bar with his header.

Musiala went close just before the break as he lifted Muller's floated pass over Gikeiwicz, but the retreating Bauer cleared the ball before Augsburg were awarded a free kick.

Bayern spurned a number of their openings and were made to pay when the hosts took the lead.

A free kick was lofted into the Bayern box and ricocheted off Iago's knee into Berisha path and the striker fired in beyond Neuer to send Augsburg 1-0 in the derby.

Julian Nagelsmann's side could have equalised as Musiala slipped in Sane, but Gikiewicz made himself big and smothered the winger's shot. Jeffrey Gouweleeuw then struck the ball at substitute Serge Gnabry and the ball went out for a goal kick.

Bayern threw players forwards the end and Neuer was even sent up for a few corners - one of which he headed at Gikiewicz - but Augsburg deservedly held on to climb up to 11th in the Bundesliga. Bayern are fourth.

Bayern Munich player ratings vs Augsburg - Bundesliga

1. Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1)

GK: Manuel Neuer - 6/10 - Sharp reflexes to deal with Niederlechner's shots in the first half. So nearly did an Alisson but couldn't find the corner with his header.

RB: Nasser Mazraoui - 5/10 - Nice through ball sent Mane through on goal, but the forward spurned the opportunity.

CB: Dayot Upamecano - 4/10 - Didn't deal with a few crosses effectively.

CB: Matthijs de Ligt - 4/10 - Had a physical battle with Niederlechner and lost a fair share of duels.

LB: Alphonse Davies - 6/10 - Delivered some lovely crosses and was always a threat in behind with his pace.

CM: Joshua Kimmich - 6/10 - Spotted some inventive passes but the execution was lacking.

CM: Leon Goretzka - 5/10 - Arrived at the end of attacks in his box-to-box fashion but often had his efforts blocked.

RW: Leroy Sane - 5/10 - Got his wires crossed with Musiala as Bayern butchered their opportunities on the break. Should have scored when Musiala slipped him in on goal.

AM: Thomas Muller - 5/10 - Not at his creative best and failed to combine with his colleagues.

LW: Jamal Musiala - 6/10 - Had a few moments of promise and even saw a shot cleared off the line. Engineered plenty of Bayern's counter attacks.

ST: Sadio Mane - 4/10 - Another off game up front for Mane. Made too many fouls and went looking for cheap penalties.

SUB: Serge Gnabry (62' for Mazraoui) - 4/10

SUB: Marcel Sabitzer (69' for Goretzka) - 4/10

SUB: Josip Stanisic (78' for Musiala) - N/A

SUB: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (78' for Mane) - N/A

Manager: Julian Nagelsmann - 3/10 - Four Bundesliga games without a win is a bad look for Nagelsmann. Bayern are hardly miles from the summit but this was a performance lacking creativity and a spark in attack.
