Atletico Madrid have identified Memphis Depay as a potential replacement for Joao Felix, sources have told 90min.

The Portugal forward is on the verge of joining Chelsea on loan for the rest of the season, leaving Atletico with a rather gaping hole in their squad.

The transfer merry-go-round for forwards has led Diego Simeone's side to Barcelona's Memphis Depay, with Atletico in talks with La Blaugrana about a deal.

Barça would like to receive a fair offer in order to part ways with Depay immediately, though with his contract set to expire in the summer, they don't have much leverage in this regard.

This week they discuss Chelsea’s hectic transfer strategy, which includes a loan move for Joao Felix and interest in Romeo Lavia and Marcus Thuram among others, Man Utd’s pursuit of Burnley striker Wout Weghorst, Leandro Trossard’s Brighton future and more. While Depay is open to making the switch to Los Rojiblancos, he is currently considering all of his options. His camp are currently in touch with a number of foreign clubs who would be able to offer him a pre-contract offer - something Atletico are unable to do.

While a number of sides in England are interested in bringing Depay back to the Premier League, 90min reported last month that Serie A outfit Roma had been in touch with Barcelona about a January move.
