Atlanta United have signed midfielder Bartosz Slisz from Polish side Legia Warsaw through the 2028 Major League Soccer season.

The player will occupy an international slot, and will soon join the team for training pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.

"Bartosz is an intelligent, defensive-minded midfielder who is capable of playing in different systems,” Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said.

“We feel he will complement our team well and help us solidify the middle of the field. At 24 years old he is mature beyond his years and has already played more than 250 professional matches. We’re pleased to attract a talented player at this stage of his career who is breaking into his national team.”

After joining Legia in February 2020, Slisz managed 165 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and dishing out 11 assists. Slisz plays primarily as a defensive midfielder but is capable of taking on a more advanced more as a box-to-box player.

Part of Slisz's 165 appearances for Legia include European experience in both the UEFA Conference and Europa Leagues, as he's registered 12 appearances in both continental tournaments. Prior to joining Warsaw in early 2020, Slisz was a mainstay in the starting XI for Zaglebie Lubin, where he suited up 51 times for the Polish club.

Slisz has made six appearances at the international level for Poland following his debut in March 2021. In November 2023, he made two appearances for The White Eagles against Latvia and the Czech Republic.

Slisz joins an Atlanta midfield that boasts the likes of Thiago Almada, Tristan Muyumba and Dax McCarty with the Five Stripes expected to go further in this year's postseason after their first-round exit to MLS Cup winners Columbus Crew.

The midfielder becomes Atlanta's sixth signing of the offseason alongside Xande Silva, Josh Cohen, McCarty, Gregersen and Derrick Williams.
