Indian Super League side ATK Mohun Bagan have continued to add to their squad depth this summer with the signing of versatile youngster Deepak Tangri on a free transfer.
Predominantly a defensive midfielder, Tangri has also proven himself worthy as a centre-back option on multiple occasions for his former teams.
This comes after an impressive 2020/21 campaign with Chennaiyin FC, wherein he featured in 17 games throughout the season.
Tangri started his journey with Mohun Bagan AC as a teenager before signing for the Indian Arrows back in 2017. He became an integral part of the Arrows' side with some impressive performances.
Deepak then joined Chennaiyin FC ahead of the 2018/19 season, but was immediately sent back on loan to the Arrows in order for him to continue his growth.
After an impressive season, Tangri was called back by Chennaiyin and was included in their 2019/20 squad for the ISL. Later that season, he went on to make his debut for the famous south Indian club.
The 2020/21 season saw Tangri come out as a more mature player. Level-headed on the field, he expressed himself well in the 22 games that he featured in throughout Chennaiyin FC's campaign.
Now, Tangri begins a new journey with one of the most successful ISL sides in history in ATK Mohun Bagan and it feels like this is the launchpad he needed in order to take his career to the next level.
He becomes the Mariners' second big signing of the summer after they announced the arrival of central midfielder Joni Kauko following his impressive performances in all three group games for surprise package Finland at the UEFA Euro 2020.
