The Mariners have been without one of their star strikers in Roy Krishna against Blue Star SC and Abahani Dhaka with the player returning home due to personal reasons. David Williams who scored a hat-trick in their last game admitted that they are sad that Krishna was not available, but that they have a strong squad to do well in the competition.
“It’s sad that Roy isn’t here. But we have a strong squad. Joni (Kauko) is great, his vision, strength and knowledge all are great. Our Indian players like Prabir (Das), Manvir (Singh) and Liston (Colaco) are also putting in a lot of hard work. It’s great to be part of this team,” Williams said.
ATK Mohun Bagan will start their AFC Cup campaign when they face fellow Indian Super League (ISL) side in Kerala Blasters on May 18.
