ATK Mohun Bagan head coach, Juan Ferrando has reportedly given his players five-days to rest and recupurate.

He has also urged his side to remain focused AFC Cup main round matches which is scheduled to start on May 18, following the Mariners efficient performances in the two playoff games up till now.

The Mariners have been placed in Group D of the AFC Cup along with Gokulam Kerala FC, Bashundhara Kings (Bangladesh) and Maziya Sports and Recreation (Maldives).

“This phase is over. A new beginning is waiting for us. Which would be tougher in all aspects," Ferrando said as he looked ahead to the AFC group games.

The Mariners have been without one of their star strikers in Roy Krishna against Blue Star SC and Abahani Dhaka with the player returning home due to personal reasons. David Williams who scored a hat-trick in their last game admitted that they are sad that Krishna was not available, but that they have a strong squad to do well in the competition.

“It’s sad that Roy isn’t here. But we have a strong squad. Joni (Kauko) is great, his vision, strength and knowledge all are great. Our Indian players  like Prabir (Das), Manvir (Singh) and Liston (Colaco) are also putting in a lot of hard work. It’s great to be part of this team,” Williams said.

ATK Mohun Bagan will start their AFC Cup campaign when they face fellow Indian Super League (ISL) side in Kerala Blasters on May 18.
