Everyone, stop what you're doing and look at Serie A!

Okay, so perhaps a large chunk of the United Kingdom will have their eyes fixed on Liverpool's date with destiny against Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening, and the whole of Spain will be watching with interest as Real Madrid attempt to regain top spot in La Liga.

But over in Italy, something magical is unfolding and on Wednesday night, we should all be bracing ourselves for potentially the game of the season (so far). At 20:45 (BST), Europe's entertainers Atalanta host title-challenging Lazio in the ultimate heavyweight bout of Italian football.

Although they are not the biggest names in Serie A, these two clubs are certainly the most exciting and with so much at stake for both sides, it promises to be a battle for the ages. It goes without saying the pair are the two highest scorers in Italy this season, with la Dea smashing a stunning 74 goals in 26 matches, while le Aquile boast 60 strikes in as many games as their counterparts.

Simply put, 0-0 is not an option (writer crosses fingers and toes). There will be goals.

But who holds the advantage going into this battle? Well, Atalanta may feel more physically prepared, having already got 90 minutes under their belt - destroying Sassuolo 4-1 in Bergamo on Sunday evening.

Not a bad way to get back into the swing of things. Forwards Alejandro Gomez and Duvan Zapata looked as if they'd never been away, while Gian Piero Gasperini also has talisman Josip Ilicic to welcome back to the fold.

And after opening up a six-point gap on nearest rivals AS Roma in fifth place, Gasperini's men are closing in on securing Champions League football for a second successive season. There can be no room for errors, however, and if there is anyone who can stop Atalanta in full stride, then it's Lazio.

Not only are the Eagles deadly in attack, but they're also miserly in defence. Simone Inzaghi's men boast the best defensive record in the league, having conceded only 23 goals thus far - intimidating stuff.

Having said that, their resolute backline was unable to stop the Atalanta onslaught last time out, and the two teams put on an absolute spectacle in Rome. That's right, in case you needed any further motivation to watch Wednesday's duel, the previous encounter ended in a 3-3 draw; Lazio snatching a point in injury time with a Ciro Immobile penalty.

That spot-kick was one of the Italian forward's 27 strikes this campaign, making him the undisputed top scorer in Italy. But watch out for Immobile's supporting cast, who offer a combination of guile, power and unrivalled speed - in the form of Luis Alberto, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Joaquin Correa.

The Eagles are currently sitting second in Serie A, and off the back of a 21-game unbeaten run, they are ready to push Juventus all the way for the title - a feat the capital city club hasn't achieved in 20 years.

Many believe it is Lazio's destiny to end their title drought this year, and with I Bianconeri looking worse for wear, they may never get a better chance.

Two teams, a tonne of goals and everything to play for. There's no other match you should be watching on Wednesday evening.
