New York Red Bulls striker Ashley Fletcher has returned to Watford following the conclusion of his loan period, the club announced Monday.
The English forward joined shortly after the start of the 2022 MLS season and went on to make seven MLS appearances, starting only three of them. Fletcher failed to score or assist a single goal during his time in New Jersey and was mostly kept out of the RBNY side by Polish striker Patryk Klimala.
“We want to thank Ashley for his time with the club, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” New York Red Bulls sporting director Denis Hamlett said in a club press release.
Fletcher departs with the Red Bulls sitting top of the Eastern Conference with 33 points from 20 games following their 1-1 draw with FC Cincinnati last time out.
Next up is a Hudson River derby clash at home to NYCFC on Sunday before a trip to Austin FC the following weekend.
