Arsenal have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table back to seven points again when they face Southampton on Friday night.

The Gunners have thrown away two-goal leads in their last two games to open the door to Manchester City in the title race.

After taking on the Saints, Arsenal's next game sees them travel to the Etihad Stadium in what will be a huge fixture in their quest to end their 19-year wait for a title.

Here's who Mikel Arteta could select on Friday.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Southampton

GK: Aaron Ramsdale - After proving to be the hero at Anfield, Ramsdale drew some criticism for failing to beat away Jarrod Bowen's volley on Sunday.

RB: Ben White - Arsenal's right-back almost by default nowadays.

CB: Rob Holding - William Saliba is not expected to be fit to make his return on Friday, so Holding will continue at the back.

CB: Gabriel - Made a rare error having given away the penalty at West Ham.

LB: Kieran Tierney - Oleksandr Zinchenko's injury is not thought to be serious, but you'd imagine Arteta would want to wrap him in cotton wool ahead of next week's showdown with Man City.

CM: Martin Odegaard - The club captain will be having vivid dreams about hoisting the Premier League trophy aloft on the final day of the season.

CM: Thomas Partey - Looked completely out of sorts against West Ham, carelessly losing the ball leading up to the penalty.

CM: Granit Xhaka - We're due a screamer from Xhaka down the final stretch of this season.

RW: Bukayo Saka - Hoping to put a nightmare performance behind him, and you'd back the young winger to find his feet again in a fixture like this.

ST: Gabriel Jesus - A joy to watch. Though criticised for being wasteful, Jesus is in quite a bit of scoring form.

LW: Gabriel Martinelli - Only Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Ivan Toney, Marcus Rashford and Mohamed Salah have scored more Premier League goals than Martinelli this season.
