Arsenal and Everton meet in the WSL this weekend.

It used to be one of the biggest fixtures in English women’s football prior to Everton’s decline in the mid-2010s, but the ambitious Toffees have their eye on getting back to challenging for titles.

Arsenal come into this one off the back of a heavy defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek, which slightly takes the sheen off their blistering start to the domestic campaign, while Everton are on a run of two consecutive wins after overcoming a tough opening couple of games.

This is everything you need to know about the game…

Arsenal vs Everton head to head

Arsenal have won all seven league meetings between these two clubs since Everton were promoted back to the top flight in 2017. The Gunners also won an FA Cup semi-final tie in 2018.

Last season, Arsenal won 4-0 at Meadow Park in the final game before Christmas thanks to quickfire pairs of goals early in the match and around the hour mark. The most recent meeting was the penultimate weekend of the season on Merseyside and it took a 94th minute for Arsenal to keep their dominant run over the Toffees going.

Arsenal vs Everton score prediction

Arsenal will be keen to bounce back from their European disappointment and continue a perfect start to the WSL season.

This one is a big test for an improving Everton, having been soundly beaten by both Manchester City and Chelsea in the early weeks of the season. If they have genuine ambitions of challenging for Champions League football, they need to prove they can compete with the ‘big three’ clubs.

The Toffees have been improving and Arsenal have had to travel in midweek, so it should be closer than Everton’s failed earlier attempts to ruffle feathers this season. But the edge still belongs to the Gunners for now.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Everton
