Arsenal assistant coach Carlos Cuesta could be offered the manager's job at Championship side Norwich City, according to a report.

Cuesta, who only turns 29 in July, is regarded as one of the brightest young minds in football and is one of four assistants to Mikel Arteta alongside Albert Stuivenberg, Miguel Molina and set-piece specialist Nicolas Jover.

The Guardian report Cuesta is the subject of interest from Norwich, who are enduring an up-and-down campaign under current boss David Wagner. The Canaries' push for Cuesta is being driven by sporting director Ben Knapper, who was previously the loans manager at Arsenal.

Norwich remain in the hunt for a play-off place and so any approach for Cuesta is not expected to come until the summer, though other Championship teams are said to also be interested in his services.

Ahead of Saturday's 5-0 thumping of Burnley at Turf Moor, Arteta was asked if Norwich's interest in Cuesta was a compliment to him.

"Yeah, that's great. What has happened, not only with coaching staff, but with other staff as well," Arteta replied.

"When other clubs try to get them it's a really good sign that they're doing a really good job and that we have the right people here."

Cuesta made the move to Arsenal in 2020 after spending two years as the assistant manager of Juventus' Under-17 side. He began his coaching career as an 18-year-old when he joined Atletico Madrid's Under-17s as an assistant.

The Spaniard has been praised for his work as an individual development coach and strong tactical understanding.
