Arsenal underwent a sizeable overhaul last summer, with the Gunners splashing the cash to bring in the likes of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.

That business has had an impressive impact on their 2023/24 performances, with Mikel Arteta's side still in the Premier League title race and vying for Champions League glory after reaching the quarter-finals of the competition.

What happens in the final two months of the season is likely to have an enormous influence on what Arsenal do this summer, but here is an early look at how the north London side should manage their squad ahead of next campaign.

KEEP

GK: David Raya - A slightly tricky one considering that the Spanish goalkeeper is technically still on loan from Brentford. However, Arsenal do have a buy option in his deal, one they should be triggering given his impressive displays.

DEF: William Saliba - Arsenal's title bid was derailed by an injury to the Frenchman last season. He's absolutely crucial for Arteta's side.

DEF: Ben White - Despite some recent confrontations with the England national team, White remains a fantastic option at right-back for the Gunners. He's firmly established himself as Arteta's number one, even if he doesn't like watching football.

DEF: Gabriel - The Brazilian was often seen as the weaker member of his centre-back partnership with Saliba, but his performances have been ultra consistent this season.

DEF: Jurrien TImber - We haven't seen much of the summer recruit after he suffered an ACL injury on the opening day of the season. However, he has plenty of potential and it will be interesting to see how Arteta utilises the versatile Dutchman moving forward.

DEF: Jakub Kiwior - Having been linked with a move away from Arsenal this season, Kiwior has stuck around and fought for his place. The Poland international has generally been used as a left-back by Arteta, a role in which he has performed admirably.

DEF: Takehiro Tomiyasu - Back-up right-backs don't come much better than the Japan star, albeit his injury record will be of concern to Arteta.

DEF: Oleksandr Zinchenko - Often criticised this season, the former Manchester City man's positional flexibility still makes him an intriguing option. Zinchenko offers Arsenal an overload in central areas when stepping into midfield from left-back.

MID: Martin Odegaard - Arsenal's skipper and arguably their greatest talent, the Norwegian is going absolutely nowhere.

MID: Fabio Vieira - The Portuguese has been a handy squad option at times this season and should offer a similar function next campaign. Football is a squad game, after all.

MID: Kai Havertz - Whether a midfielder or a forward, Havertz has just about shown enough in his debut season at Arsenal to offer encouragement moving forward. The German was signed for £65m, so there is no chance he's leaving this summer.

MID: Declan Rice - The former West Ham man has been a revelation for the Gunners, offering them incredible stability in midfield. Whether in a holding role or as a box-to-box player, Rice is world-class.

FWD: Bukayo Saka - Arsenal's golden boy, Saka embodies everything that is good about Arteta's team.

FWD: Gabriel Jesus - Often maligned for his lack of ruthlessness in front of goal, Jesus remains an elite player. The Brazilian's football intelligence makes him an unbelievable asset, providing he can stay fit.

FWD: Gabriel Martinelli - Another exciting young star in the making at Arsenal, Martinelli has been impressive again this season. One of the toughest wingers to mark in the Premier League, his relentlessness makes him a perfect Arteta player.

FWD: Leandro Trossard - The Belgian seems to pop up at crucial moments for Arsenal, most recently netting an important goal in the Champions League last 16. Another versatile forward player, the Gunners won't be offloading him this summer.

LOAN

MID: Emile Smith Rowe - The talented 23-year-old has been unfortunate with injuries and has therefore struggled for regular minutes. He perhaps needs a fruitful loan spell at another Premier League club to aid his development.

FWD: Marquinhos - The Brazilian will be out on loan at Fluminense until next January anyway, and will likely get another loan in the second half of the 2024/25 season.

SELL

Eddie Nketiah

GK: Aaron Ramsdale - Has always had a gaffe in him and has now fallen behind Raya in the pecking order. Arsenal should probably cash in on him while his value is relatively high, and Ramsdale himself will want to be playing more regular football.

DEF: Kieran Tierney - The Scotsman's injury history is far from ideal and he hasn't been a regular on loan at Real Sociedad this season. Arteta clearly prefers his other left-back options, with Tierney unlikely to get a look-in moving forward.

DEF: Nuno Tavares - Currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, Tavares doesn't appear to have a future at Arsenal having struggled when playing in north London.

MID: Thomas Partey - The Ghanaian's injury record is woeful and he will always be second choice to Rice moving forward. Time to sell.

MID: Albert Sambi Lokonga - The Belgian has done a decent job at Luton Town this season during his loan spell, but the Hatters are closer to his level than the Gunners.

FWD: Eddie Nketiah - Having signed a contract extension in 2022, Nketiah hasn't been able to break into the Arsenal first team. Arteta clearly isn't a huge fan of the striker and he could be a useful source of funds this summer.

FWD: Reiss Nelson - He may have only signed a contract extension last summer, but Nelson's playing time is sporadic to say the least. The winger probably needs to move on, especially considering he is competing with such fantastic forwards.

RELEASE

GK: Karl Hein - The Estonian has been with Arsenal since 2018 but has featured just once for the Gunners' senior side. With his contract expiring, the 21-year-old is unlikely to be renewed.

DEF: Cedric - A forgotten man at the Emirates, the Portuguese is unlikely to be donning an Arsenal jersey next season. His appearances are incredibly infrequent, with Arsenal having plenty of superior full-back options.

MID: Jorginho - The Italian has often served his purpose for Arsenal, but doesn't merit a contract extension. Jorginho will be 33 by the time next season ends.

MID: Mohamed Elneny - The Egyptian is rarely available due to consistent injury concerns and is now simply costing the Gunners money.
