Argentina can move one step closer to winning their first Copa America trophy since 1993 when they face Colombia in the semi-final on Wednesday.

An emphatic victory over Ecuador in the quarter-final has helped Argentina build momentum, and there is real optimism that La Albiceleste can make it back to the final after falling at this hurdle in 2019.

Here's how Lionel Scaloni could set his side up.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Emiliano Martinez (GK) - The obvious first choice, Martinez has three clean sheets from his four appearances so far.

Gonzalo Montiel (RB) - One of the best full-backs in South America, Montiel was rested last time out in favour of Nahuel Molina, so expect the River Plate man to return.

German Pezzella (CB) - With Cristian Romero facing a race against time to prove his fitness, Scaloni may play it safe and opt for Pezzella again.

Nicolas Otamendi (CB) - Otamendi is a near-permanent member of Scaloni's team. If he's fit, he's always going to start.

Marcos Acuna (LB) - Acuna has taken control of the left-back spot away from Nicolas Tagliafico and doesn't look like giving up his spot for this one.

2. Midfielders

Leandro Paredes (DM) - Argentina looked slightly better against Ecuador with Guido Rodríguez, but Scaloni's love of Paredes means the PSG man is likely to retain his spot.

Rodrigo de Paul (CM) - Set to join Atletico Madrid after the tournament, De Paul netted against Ecuador and will hope to use that momentum in this one.

Giovani Lo Celso (CM) - Lo Celso impressed on both sides of the ball against Ecuador, putting in a real shift defensively and proving he can be relied upon.

3. Forwards

Lionel Messi (RW) - Messi has four goals and four assists to his name already this summer. He's in outrageous form and looks desperate to add silverware with his country to his trophy cabinet.

Lautaro Martinez (ST) - The Inter forward is building momentum at the right time, bagging in each of his last two games after drawing blanks in the first two.

Papu Gomez (LW) - Nico Gonzalez could do with a rest and that's the perfect excuse to bring Gomez back into the team.
