Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has confirmed that surgery to remove his gallbladder after recently becoming unwell with cholecystitis was a success.

Spurs made an announcement on Conte’s condition on Wednesday, stating he was set to go under the knife and will take a step away from his managerial duties while he recovers.

Having had the operation, the Italian has been quick to update fans on the situation, thankfully stating that he was immediately starting to feel better.

“Thank you for your lovely messages,” Conte posted on Instagram.

“My surgery has gone well and I’m already feeling better. Now’s time to recover, I can’t wait to get back on the field with the team.”

In the interim period, assistant coach Cristian Stellini is expected to temporarily take charge of first-team matters until Conte is well enough to return to work.

Spurs have a busy February ahead, playing five times before the end of the month.

Having recovered from back-to-back defeats against Arsenal and Manchester City with successive wins over Fulham and Preston, that starts with another clash against City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Leicester is next after that, before the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie against AC Milan at San Siro and back-to-back London derbies against West Ham and Chelsea.
