The shirt number that Antoine Griezmann will wear for Atletico Madrid after his shock loan return to the club has been revealed.
Griezmann had been linked with a potential move back to Atleti in the summer via a swap deal involving Joao Felix, but after those negotiations collapsed it looked like the France international would be staying put at Camp Nou for another season.
However, in the final hours of the transfer window Griezmann surprisingly got his move back to Atletico on a one-year loan deal - with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
While we're all pinching ourselves trying to work out how Barcelona managed to spend €120m on a player, only to loan him back to the same club two years later because they can't afford his wages, Los Rojiblancos have handed the forward the number eight shirt following his return
Griezmann previously enjoyed a successful spell at Atletico Madrid wearing the club's number seven. With that now being worn by Felix, Griezmann has instead opted for the number eight which was previously donned by Saul Niguez - who secured a loan move to Chelsea on deadline day.
The France international will be hoping his return to the club will reignite his career after two disappointing campaigns at Barcelona.
Barça failed to win La Liga or the Champions League in both of Griezmann's seasons at Camp Nou, with the forward only managing 22 goals in 75 league games for the club.
In the five seasons prior to his move to Barça, he managed 133 goals and 50 assists in 257 games for Atleti, also winning the Europa League and making it to two UEFA Champions League finals.
Griezmann should make his debut during his side's La Liga meeting with Espanyol on Sunday 12 September.
