Ansu Fati's Suprising Idol Who He Finally Got to Play Alongside in Incredible Ukraine Display

Not yet 18-year-old Ansu Fati enjoyed a dream first start for Spain's senior side on Sunday night, earning a penalty within three minutes of kick-off and then scoring with a magnificent individual effort before half time against Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League.

The historic goal makes Fati (17 years and 311 days) the Spanish senior side's youngest ever scorer - and to be honest, he probably would've scored sooner had it not been for this year's unusual footballing hiatus.

Following Sunday's win and Fati's scintilating display, Marca went with the headline 'Ansu Fati is Disneyworld'.

The Barcelona wonderkid is making a habit of breaking records. He is already the youngest ever scorer for Barça and in the Champions League.

The prodigious talent, who scored eight in 33 domestic appearances last season, has had quite the route to stardom.

Born in Guinea-Bissau, Fati honed his technique by playing with rolled-up socks balls before moving to Andalusia, where he shone in the academies of Herrera and Sevilla ahead of his switch to Barcelona.

However, amid all the records and displays of ridiculous talent, one side note from Sunday night that may have gone under the radar was that the match gave Fati a first chance to line up alongside one of his childhood heroes.

As noted on Twitter by Seville journalist Roberto Arrocha, Fati - having been raised in Andalusia and a having spent time in Sevilla's youth system - was a big fan of Jesus Navas.

Arrocha wrote, along with pictorial evidence: "Such was his [Fati's] fixation that he played with the same boots (imitation) as the Sevilla captain. 2011/12 season.

"The boots were bought by Ernesto Chao, coordinator of the academy of the Sevilla FC. They went to the store together and he said he wanted the ones that looked like Navas' (purple colour)."

Fati joined Barcelona's fabled La Masia in 2012, while Navas moved to Manchester City in 2013 (before returning in 2017), meaning the two never got to link up together for the Andalusian side.

Nine years on from the photos tweeted by Arrocha, Fati made his full international debut in the 1-1 draw with Germany on 3 September in which, coincidentally, the youngster was subbed on for his idol.

However, both players started the win over Ukraine, finally giving them a chance to play together - though neither was wearing purple boots.
