The NWSL’s newest expansion team Angel City FC finally unveiled their new home kit ahead of their inaugural season.
The primary jersey is the first for the franchise, which is set to kick off in 2022 and become one of two California clubs to enter the NWSL as it expands to twelve teams.
The historic kit is black, backed by Nike and made with sustainable, 100 percent recycled polyester fibers. It boasts Nike’s Dri-FIT technology and breathable side panels to comfort players.
The jersey has details of ACFC’s custom colors: Sol Rosa and Armour. The color of the Angel City FC crest, Nike swoosh, sponsors, player name, and number are all Sol Rosa, while the geometric pattern is Armour.
Katie Eaton, vice president of commerce and fan experience, explained the team was looking to capture a “timeless” feel with the first kit.
“I feel like this is how we will approach our jerseys in general," she said. "Our primary will always be tried and true to our club identity.”
"My favorite part is the subtle reminder that we are doing things differently," said ACFC founding investor and soccer legend Julie Foudy. "It looks so good. I am going to rock it in the stands like the crazy fan that I am going to be. We have been talking about this for so long, and it is finally here."
The jersey will also feature the team’s sponsors: DoorDash (front), Birdies (sleeve) and Sprouts Farmers Market (lower back).
“With these partners, we’re going to be giving nearly two million dollars over the next several years back into the LA community,” Eaton said in reference to the club’s sponsorship model in which 10 percent of each deal goes directly to community programs or organizations.
The away kit will be announced at a later date as ACFC prepares for their first NWSL expansion draft on December 16.
