Andre Blake earns his third MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award

Andre Blake has been named the 2022 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.
The Philadelphia Union figure made history in receiving this year’s honor, standing as the only goalkeeper to earn the title three times. He first picked up the award in 2016, before claiming it a second time in 2020.
Blake led the league this year in shutouts, recording 15 overall and managing a 79.4 save percentage. He conceded only 16 goals throughout the 2022 campaign, the fewest league-wide to inspire the Philadelphia Union to first place in the Eastern Conference table.
His contributions to the team propelled their record to 19W-5L-10D, narrowly catching up to Supporters’ Shield winners LAFC.
Blake also earned his fourth MLS All-Star nod this season, and earned the 2022 John Wanamaker Athletic Award, which is presented to the athlete, team or organization which has done the most to reflect credit upon Philadelphia and the team or sport in which they excel. He stands as the first men’s soccer player to receive the award since it began in 1961.
The MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award was voted on by MLS club technical staff, media and current MLS players.
