Bolton Wanderers striker Amadou Bakayoko enjoyed a brilliant February, and that has been recognised as he takes the PFA Vertu Motors League One Fans' Player of the Month award for February 2022.

Bakayoko played a huge role as Bolton got their promotion push firmly back on track, bagging five goals to help the Trotters to four wins.

The 26-year-old's first strike of the month arrived on the first day of February in the 2-0 win over Cambridge United, and he followed that up with a crucial injury-time equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Morecambe.

The frontman was again on hand for a vital late goal as he netted the winner in the 3-2 success at Oxford United.

Further efforts followed in the wins over AFC Wimbledon and Lincoln City as Bolton and Bakayoko enjoyed a brilliant run of form in League One.

Indeed Bakayoko's performances were enough to win him the fan vote and he did it in comprehensive fashion, claiming one of the biggest victories we have seen in any of the polls this season by amassing a whopping 8,652 votes to take 32% of the overall total.

His nearest rival in second was Sheffield Wednesday's captain Barry Bannan, who took an impressive 19%.

Third place was Oxford United's goalscoring midfielder Cameron Brannagan, who bagged third with 15% of the vote.

Sunderland striker Ross Stewart grabbed 12%, which was just enough to beat Wigan's Callum Lang on 11% and Cheltenham's Alfie May who claimed 10%.
