The agent of Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies has lashed out at the club's public attempts to pressure the Canada international into making a decision on his future.

Davies is approaching the final 12 months of his current contract and has been offered the chance to sign fresh terms with Bayern, but the lack of an agreement recently led to sporting director Max Eberl warning Davies that he must make a decision soon.

Complicating matters is interest from Real Madrid, who hope Davies will reject an extension and push for a cut-price move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

With Bayern also working to find a new manager after confirming Thomas Tuchel will step down this summer, Davies' agent insisted it was "unfair" to hand the 23-year-old an ultimatum at this point.

"It's not fair that Alphonso is now being attacked," agent Nick Huoseh told BILD. "We were close to an agreement a year ago. Then the entire club management was replaced. We didn't hear anything for seven months. Although, during this time I tried to contact the club myself.

"Now we are given an ultimatum and are supposed to react within two weeks because the club is under pressure and took a long time to reposition itself at management level? That's not fair.

"It's a very important contract in Alphonso's career and we're supposed to make the decision - without knowing who the coach will be next season or what the team looks like. That's why we think it's unfair to go for the ultimatum reaction and will decide at the end of the season how to proceed when there is more clarity."

Bayern are understood to have offered Davies the chance to extend until 2029 with an annual salary worth between €13m and €14m, but the Canada international is reported to be demanding closer to €20m.

With Bayern currently refusing to increase their offer, Madrid are hopeful of luring Davies away this summer. Bayern will make Davies available for transfer if he declines to extend but an agreement over a transfer fee would need to be reached.

An asking price of €60m has been rumoured but reports in Spain state Madrid are hoping to pay close to half that figure in a summer which will likely see them commit to a hugely expensive deal to sign Kylian Mbappe.
