Manchester United's club-record away winning run came to an end on Boxing Day as the Red Devils were held to a 2-2 draw by Leicester.

The Red Devils had won 13 consecutive matches on the road against Premier League opposition, beginning with their 2-1 win over Norwich at Carrow Road in the FA Cup quarter finals in June, and concluding with their Carabao Cup quarter final victory over Everton in December.

But in a style that we have become accustomed to enjoying at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, these wins are often far from straight forward; there have been plenty of late goals, an awful lot of Bruno Fernandes, and surprisingly fewer penalties than you might actually expect.

Let's take a look at the best facts and figures from United's club record away winning run.

1. Number of late goals: 11

Solskjaer has made it his mission to bring back the spirit of Sir Alex Ferguson since taking the Old Trafford hot seat in 2018, and on this evidence, Fergie time is very much alive and well.

Eleven goals in their 13-game winning run were scored after the 80th minute - 29% of the total of 38 goals that the Red Devils netted.

Three of these 11 came during the final 10 minutes at St James' Park in October during United's 4-1 win.

2. Number of extra points earned from late goals: 6

United's late goals against Newcastle, Brighton and Southampton have earned them an additional six points in the Premier League.

Their late goals have also earned them a spot in the 2019/20 FA Cup semi finals and 2020/21 Carabao Cup semi finals.

3. Number of stoppage time goals: 8

United loved a late goal in either half away from home, scoring two goals in first half stoppage time and six goals in second half stoppage time.

The latest of these was Fernandes' penalty in the 10th minute of second half injury time during the Red Devils' 3-2 win over Brighton in September as Solskjaer's side got their first Premier League points on the board.

One third of their second half stoppage time goals were scored by Edinson Cavani.

4. Number of times they came from behind: 6

United's embarked on their winning away run during the latter stages of the 2019/20 campaign, with the majority of these victories comfortable wins where Solskjaer's side invariably kept a clean sheet.

However, during the 2020/21 season, United have conceded the game's first goal and been forced to come from behind in six of their eight away wins.

Only during their Carabao Cup victories over Brighton and Everton have United not fallen behind on the road this term, meaning that prior to Saturday's draw with Leicester, United had conceded the first goal in every Premier League away match this season - and still won every single one.

5. Number of Bruno Fernandes goal involvements: 14

It's no secret that United have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes since the January signing of Bruno Fernandes, and the midfielder was involved in 37% of the goals they scored away from home during their winning run.

Fernandes chipped in with nine goals and five assists during the Red Devils' record run - no United player recorded more goal involvements.

6. Number of penalties awarded: 3

United had been perceived as beneficiaries of the new hand ball law, picking up points left, right and centre as a result of fortuitously awarded spot kicks.

However, this was not the case during their winning away run. The Red Devils were awarded just three penalties - against Newcastle, Brighton and Aston Villa - subsequently converting two of those.

This means just 5% of United's goals in their club record away winning record came from the spot.
