Alexia Putellas has been named the 2021/22 UEFA Women's Champions League Player of the Season, having finished as the competition's top scorer during Barcelona's run to the final.
Barcelona went into this season's competition as defending champions for the very first time in their history, after triumphing in emphatic style during the 2020/21 campaign.
The Spanish champions reached their third Champions League final in four seasons, but were beaten 3-1 by Lyon in Turin as the French outfit wrestled back their European crown.
Captain Putellas was integral to Barcelona's run to the final, netting 11 goals in ten appearances - three of which came at Camp Nou during knockout stage victories over Wolfsburg and Real Madrid.
The midfielder was also on the scoresheet in the final, thumping home Caroline Graham Hansen's cross on the stroke of half-time to offer Barcelona a glimmer of hope. However, the goal proved to be just a consolation.
Putellas' 13 goal contributions - 11 goals and two assists - was also the highest figure in the competition during the 2021/22 campaign.
The 28-year-old was selected for the award by UEFA's Technical Observer panel.
Lyon's Selma Bacha was named as the 2021/22 UEFA Women's Champions League Young Player of the Season.
The 21-year-old left-back topped the pile for assists in the competition, chipping in with nine - including one in the final to cap a player of the match performance.
Bacha picked out Ada Hegerberg with a wicked cross from the left flank for Lyon's second goal in the final, just minutes after producing a last-ditch, goal-saving tackle to keep out Jenni Hermoso.
Despite being just 21 years old, this season's triumph saw Bacha collect her fourth Champions League winner's medal.
