Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has revealed that he had offers to join Real Madrid and Manchester United during his career, but he always opted to remain in Turin.

Del Piero spent almost the entirety of his playing days at Juventus, featuring for them between 1993 and 2012, making 705 appearances across all competitions, scoring 290 goals and providing 150 assists.

During his prime years he was one of the best forwards in the world, and speaking at an event at Santiago Bernabeu before Real's Champions League victory over Chelsea this week, he revealed that Los Blancos had tried to sign him.

"The fans are warm, always. I’ve never been close to joining them, in certain moments I could’ve been further away from Juve, particular moments, but I have no regrets and I always chose to stay," he told Sky Sports Italia.

Del Piero faced Real nine times during his incredible playing career, winning five, losing four and scoring five goals in the process.

At the event he later discussed what it meant for him to return to the Bernabeu for the first time since 2008, when he netted a vital brace for the Bianconeri in a Champions League group-stage game.

"This stadium (Santiago Bernabeu) gave me a great victory where I scored a brace but above all the standing ovation of the opposition fans. It’s also true that I lost several times here," he said.

Del Piero went on to hint that Man Utd also sounded him out for a transfer during his career.

"This stadium (Santiago Bernabeu) has a unique environment, as well as Old Trafford, but I made my choice," he added.

After leaving Juventus in 2021, Del Piero moved to Sydney FC on a free transfer before joining Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos in 2014.
