ATK Mohun Bagan coach Juan Ferrando has warned his team to avoid complacency and ensure they focus on beating Bangladeshi side Abahani Dhaka in the play-off round game of the AFC Cup at the Salt Lake Stadium on April 19.
The Kolkata based side reached the final playoff round by thrashing Blue Star SC 5-0 in their previous game, but Ferrando wants his team to switch up a gear for the road ahead.
“I have seen some of their matches in the Bangladesh League. They are well-protected. There are seven days to prepare. If we win this match, we will be able to play in the group stage of the AFC Cup. So I want to win at any cost," Ferrando was quoted as saying by Anandbazar.com.
ATK Mohun Bagan comfortably won their last game against Blue Star SC without important players like Roy Krishna, Sandesh Jhingan and Liston Colaco.
Ahead of their game against Abahani Dhaka, Jhingan was seen practicing away from the rest of the group with a trainer at a training ground beside the Yuvabharati Stadium. However, there is no news on whether he will feature against Abahani Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Ferrando spoke about ATK Mohun Bagan's star striker Roy Krishna's fitness and availability for the game.
He said, "I am not upset if Roy has a problem or if a player has an injury. Because everyone on the team is ready to take the field. There is David Williams to fill the void left by Roy."
