ATK Mohun Bagan defender, Subhasish Bose has opened up on their opening game of the AFC Cup 2022 against Gokulam Kerala FC, reiterating the "importance" of sticking to the plans set by their head coach Juan Ferrando.
Gokulam Kerala come into the clash on the back of creating history in the I-League, with the Malabarians becoming the first club to defend their crown after beating Mohammedan Sporting 2-1 in the decider.
The Kerala-based side played their last game at the Salt Lake Stadium, which is the venue for the group games and hence have been playing in similar conditions for quite some time, which they could use to their advantage.
Bose though believes that his side can come out victorious if they stick to their plans.
“We are practising already in the evening, to get used to the kick-off time in the upcoming match (Gokulam Kerala FC). We also played one practice match during that time (4.30 pm). AFC decided that we have to play matches with a 4.30 pm kick-off, that is why we are coping up with the situation and we’ll give our everything to win our next match," he said at a press conference.
"They have played very good matches, the last one was against Mohammedan Sporting Club, which we saw (from the stands). As our coach said, we have to go by our plan. We have to prove whatever the coach decides. We have to stick to our plan," the defender added.
The 26-year-old for his part has established himself as a key player for ATK Mohun Bagan under Juan Ferrando, making 22 appearances for them in the Indian Super League (ISL) last season and he will need to continue his good form as the Mariners look to progress into the knockout stages of the tournament.
